DownsizeNW is a website and blog about options for anyone who wants to downsize their home; whether you are an empty-nester who has too much

space to take care of, or just want to simplify your lifestyle and lower your monthly costs and footprint by moving to a more efficient home.

DownsizeNW is hosted and moderated by Greg Bartell of RE/Max Metro Realty in Seattle, a highly recommended Northwest Realtor who specialize in knowing all the options for downsizing buyers, and is skilled at managing the transition from larger to smaller living for his clients. Greg believes in innovation, and he finds the housing choices and opportunities for downsizers to be extremely exciting. And…he and his wife are themselves in the process of downsizing right now!

Referrals
As a Realtor, I meet many people who can be helpful in the downsizing process, and am glad to tell you about them. These include Senior Move Managers, Home Stagers, Cleaners, Painters, Carpenters, Financial Planners, Estate and Tax Planning Attorneys, Retirement Coaches, Reverse Mortgage Specialists, etc.

Buy vs. Rent analysis
I have a tool for looking at the net cost of owning vs renting in retirement. It’s a simple tool that is not as complex as what a financial planner would do, but it is a good preliminary step.

Downsizing Seminar
I will soon be offering seminars on the vast subject of downsizing, covering a range of issues: rent or buy decision, moving or aging in place, financial considerations, reverse mortgages, types of homes, condos, townhouses, and cottages that are designed for downsizing, 55+ communities, dealing with a house full of stuff, and preparing to downsize. Downsizing Needs Assessment and Possibilities Presentation
This is an in-office or in-home interview with you to learn your housing needs, along with an on-line presentation of the different types of housing available that cold meet your needs. I will also explain how I can represent you in a home search and purchase.

Market Analysis and Marketing Proposal
I will do a market analysis of your home or investment property with a value range, discuss market conditions and trends that relate to your property, suggest improvements, if any, that will be needed, and provide a professional marketing proposal to get the home sold.

Property Evaluation
Inspect your property and provide a written evaluation of a property’s present value, including comparable sales. This is used for establishing the value of the property for tax or financial planning, or partnership, estate or bankruptcy purposes. There is a $125 fee for this service.

Email List keep up to date with DownsizeNW, and receive an Email when this blog is updated with new listings or information.

Property Search Search for properties for sale, and receive email updates of new listings.

Neighborhood Report Receive a monthly report of sales activity, price trends, and see new and sold listings for the past month. You can have one  for your neighborhood, or a neighborhood you are thinking of moving to. See a sample here.
